Dumped Pit Bull who begged man for shelter from storm given loving home, healing the man’s past pup grief: ‘I miss my girl and I’ve enjoyed not having the responsibility. But this dog reminds me of all the things I love about having one.’

Sadly, dumped pit bulls are a dime a dozen in this world, but it is not all too often that a dog such as this who has been dumped seeks out a hooman's help specifically. Most would have been too terrified to even try, but this plucky girl knew she was choosing the right hooman for help, and boy did she get it.

Reddit's r/rescuedogs subreddit is full of stories about dogs that have been rescued in all sorts of typical and surprising ways. And while it might not be all too surprising to hear about a pupper coming up to a person for help, it is very surprising when it is a pit bull type pupper doing the asking. This is due to the way that most of them are raised. Puppers trained for protection are wary of strange hoomans and could even show aggressive behaviors if put on their back foot. But this kind and gentle sweetheart was nothing like that, allowing her to scurry over to the man she chose to be her pawrent and who would take her away from the misery of being dumped.

This story truly goes to show that you can never judge a doggo by their breed, only by their own behavior. Because at their core, all dogs want is to be loved and to love, to experience unbridled happiness and excitement. Sure, some have been trained to think otherwise, and some might look scarier than ogre demolishing a village. But deep down inside they are all the same and all want a safe and peaceful life.

  • Oh goodness, that poor pupper must have been scared senseless. If she was indeed a pet who got lost after flipping out on the 4th of July then she would have already been seriously on edge. That storm must have felt like another round of rowdy fireworks to her and all she wanted was to feel safe and protected from the very thing she had just lost her mind and home over. Though considering her pit bull type breed there is a good chance that she was simply dumped or abandoned as often happens to these undeserving doggos.

  • Oh jheez, as if it is not bad enough to be cutting off a dog’s years, you then do not bother to clean and care for the cut you made? Seriously, the way that people treat their puppers is sickening sometimes. This certainly sounds like a dumped puppy mill dog who had passed her use by date and was no longer profitable. It breaks our heart to know that there are so many of these dogs out there, but at least this sweetheart is going to live out the rest of her days in the hands of a hooman who whole heartedly loves her.
